Cannon balls that is! Went to a Garage sale and picked me up some civil war era cannon balls. This things are pretty heavey. They are about 3 inches in diameter and weight im guessing around 10 pounds each. I love old stuff and could not pass them up. Pick them up cheaper than a 12 pack of natural high would run you. First thing I said to myself was "oh yeah I can flip these quick", but they are the oldest things I have ever owned so far!

looks like a set of giant whoppers..
and one of those looks like a "brass monkey"
brass monkey?? what the heck is that??
well, the brass monkey ball was made and used so that the other cannonballs wouldnt collapse. cuz on the ships they would stack the cannonballs in pyramids. and to avoid the bottom row from sliding out the brass monkey was made...out of brass of course
Wow !! Lucy just Schooled you Jay. At a girl Lucy. LOL, I did not even know what Brass monkey thing was. I learn something new everyday, but dont worry, I will forget it by this time tomorrow. :(

lol, @ robs balls
I don't think your balls are cannon balls. I did some research on the Internet, the smallest cannon ball used in the Civil War was 6 inch 30 lb. cannon ball. I think what you have are balls used in ore crushers in mining. I grew up in a mining town as soon as I saw your photo I recognized the balls as the ones used in ore crushers in the copper industry. I could be wrong, you need to check additional civil war sites online.
@ AZ ^^ hey thanks for checking on these .. I dont know many alot of people say they are cannon balls, they all have a certain marking kinda like an indent either it was made on impact or on when it was shot. I've seen small cannon type cannons so your saying these are not them :( well either way they look cool.
